What is a neurological Specialist ?

A neurologic clinical specialist is a physical therapist who has demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with the neurologic population. They have demonstrated a minimum of 2,000 hours of direct patient care working with patients with neurologic diagnoses or have completed a neurologic residency program, as well as pass a rigorous exam given by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS).

What are my options for telehealth?

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, many clients are opting for telehealth (telemedicine) remote visits. These visits are conducted via a computer, smartphone, or laptop with a video camera and secure access to the internet. If you have this equipment then telehealth can be a very feasible method of receiving visits.

Are you in network with insurance?

Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness strives to provide the highest quality of care, seeing patients privately, one-on-one. To provide this level of care we are not in network with insurance at this time. However, we do accept all forms of payment, including flexible savings (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA).

It is important to recognize that you may be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance through your “out of network” benefits. Empower can provide you with a specific form your insurance would request with the necessary information to submit to your insurance company. Seeking and obtaining reimbursement is the sole responsibility of the patient.

What can I expect on my First Visit?

We will take the time to get to know you, understand your motivations, and learn your specific goals. You will then receive a detailed evaluation by our specialized staff. This will help us determine the best plan of care to guide our future treatment sessions . Our visits are typically an hour in length and are in a frequency that works best for you. We know that consistency and repetition in the right intensity will allow you to achieve the best movement, so expect a few key pieces of homework between our sessions!

Do I need a prescription to see you?

No. You do not need a Physician’s referral to see a Physical Therapist. In the state of New York, we have Direct Access to Physical Therapy. This means you can receive an evaluation and treatments for 10 treatments or 30 days before contacting your physician. At Empower, we see the value in collaborating with your care team to help you on your journey.

Do you offer a complimentary phone consultation?
