Welcome to Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness! I am so happy you’re here! Empower was founded to merge my passion for neurology and patient-centered care with the current lack of community resources and lifelong care options for patients with neurologic disorders.

During my time in graduate school at Nazareth College, I had the privilege of working closely with patients in the on-campus Neuromuscular clinic. My love for working with this patient population grew. I enjoyed the creativity I could bring to their intervention to help them achieve their goals. It was early on when I realized that although two patients may have the same disease or diagnosis on paper, their individual needs were very different. Therapy should not be boring or cookie-cutter in any way! I knew there was a fire burning within me and an intense desire to build my skills and continue working with patients with neurological diseases. I ended up shooting for the moon and landed my dream job out of school working at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, an Acute Rehabilitation facility in northern NJ. Here, I worked primarily with patients with spinal cord injuries and complex neurological diagnoses. I was fortunate to have many wonderful mentors who helped me grow my skill set as a new therapist, and was allowed many opportunities to mentor new staff, lead floor programs, and gain exposure to cutting edge research and technology.

After leaving Kessler to raise a family (yes, insert 2 wonderful children), I returned home to the Rochester area. I wanted to see my patients in a new setting, their homes. I was curious to see how patients were managing their mobility at home, after transitioning home from a hospitalization, rehab stay, or functional decline. Over the past 8 years working for Rochester Regional Lifetime Care, I have come to love working with individuals at home! I see them in their preferred setting and where they spend most of their time. This allows me to better help them hone in on and overcome daily challenges to achieve the best function. But when home care therapy '“graduation day” arrives, patients have a limited list of specialized physical therapy to choose from to transition their care. I’ve witnessed too many patients fall through the cracks of our healthcare system, due to limited access and lack of high quality, community resources with specialized treatment plans. This leaves patients falling short of achieving their maximum potential.

These experiences have helped shape me professionally, but have also fueled my desire for something MORE for my patients. After years of planning and hard work, I’m proud to bring Empower Physical Therapy and Wellness to our area.
